Becoming a Probation Officer

This section details how you can become a Probation Officer.

The new Probation Qualifications Framework provides work-based pathways to qualify as either a Probation Services' Officer (PSO) or as Probation Officer (PO). The former is a new mandatory  qualification for PSOs appointed after April 2010 and is optional for existing PSOs. The PO qualifications, provide eligiblity to apply for Probation Officer Posts and replace the Dip Probation Studies  from April 2010.
