How are we doing?
In 2007 we achieved:
  • an anticipated 97% completion rate for the Diploma in Probation Studies.

  • 88 new Trainee Probation Officers were recruited to all nine of our Probation Areas.

  • 15.9% of candidates appointed were from minority ethnic backgrounds.

  • 4.5% of candidates appointed described themselves as having a disability

  • We continue to receive excellent reports from City & Guilds and OCR, our awarding bodies, on the quality of the Centre's NVQ work.

  • We currently have 338 members of probation staff working towards achieving NVQs and other vocational awards across a wide range of areas.

For more about NVQ's visit the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority website.

The Midlands Consortium has both national and regional responsibilities in relation to the training and development needs of staff. We run tutor and facilitator training for staff in Interventions, offender management training, the core PSO development programme, unpaid work training, CJA training and other relevant training and development as required.
