About Northamptonshire
  • We have a total population of 700,000 and an area covering approx. 236,900 hectares.

  • We employ around 300 staff on permanent, temporary or casual contracts.

  • The management team consists of a Chief Officer, six Assistant Chief Officers, and a team of Unit Managers with specific areas of responsibilities across the Probation Area.

  • Our total annual caseload of offenders is around 2,500.

  • There are offices based at Wellingborough, Kettering, Corby and Northampton. The area provides probation staff to three custodial institutions in the county.

  • There is a regional hostel which provides a controlled environment for offenders on bail, community sentences and post-custody sentences.

  • Northamptonshire Probation Area has long experience of working in partnership with other organisations and individuals. The partner agencies provide a wide range of advice and other facilities for offenders, from basic skills teaching and employment advice through to substance misuse counselling and housing/accommodation.
