About us
The Midlands Consortium was established in 1998 and works to deliver a range of learning and development training.
The Midlands Consortium is an association between the eight Probation Trusts across the Midlands.
An Executive Committee, comprising a Board Member from each of the Midlands Trusts, oversees the work of the Midlands Consortium.
The Consortium undertakes the following:
- Implement new Probation Qualification Framework
- Train people to become qualified Probation Service Officers and Probation Officers / Offender Managers
- Support in-service training for all grades of staff to develop their working practice
- Offer a wide range of Vocational Awards
- Develop and co-ordinate Probation Service Officer induction and development programmes throughout the region
- Manage all regional, and some national tutor training for Accredited Offender Behaviour Programmes
- On behalf of NOMS manage training for all staff who work with sex offenders
- Develop and deliver a range of leadership and management development training programmes
- Manage and deliver Offender and Accommodation Skills Training (OAST), from induction level through to more advanced training including courses on working with offenders with special needs such as drug users, sex offenders, etc.
- Provides high quality conference and event administration
- Provides fantastic conference and meeting room facilities here at the award winning Fort Dunlop building
- Delivers a range of other related training, e.g., LiHMO, Pro-Social Modelling, Mentoring, Counselling, Consultancy and Coaching
- Host for new National Treatment Agency Workforce Development project.
